Network privacy for wallets
What a remote node learns about you, and how your own node, Tor or I2P change that.

Remote nodes
A remote node sees your IP address and when your wallet syncs and sends. A malicious node can lie about decoys or try to correlate your transactions. It can never see your balance or spend your coins.
Options, best first
- Your own node on your own hardware
- Your own node on a VPS, reached over SSH/TLS/Tor
- A remote node over Tor (e.g. Feather with Tor enabled)
- A random public node over clearnet (least private)
Check a node
Our Remote Node Health Board shows which public nodes are up, synced and fast. Healthy does not mean trustworthy: it only means the node answered correctly.
